Harlem Business Economic Summit

The Harlem Business Economic Summit is a "Call to Action" for local small business owners, community leaders, entrepreneurs, economic and development specialists, local, city and state wide government officials and representatives from academic, financial and cultural institutions.

 


 

Harlem Holiday Market

The Harlem Business Alliance will host the 1st ever Harlem Holiday Market from December 15, 2011 – December 18, 2011 on the newly renovated plaza at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building. The outdoor market will open to the public daily. There will be over 60 carefully selected vendors, selling handmade crafts, apparel, unique gifts, art, jewelry, and specialty food.

 


 

3rd Annual Business Plan Competition

The Harlem Business Alliance's Business Plan Competition seeks to cultivate business concepts that will lead to the development of new enterprises and expansion of existing businesses within Upper Manhattan (north of 110th Street). HBA provides M/WBE certification application assistance & financial literacy instruction to minority, women and local owned businesses.

 


 

One-to-One Business Counseling Services

Business counseling services on a one-to-one basis to small business owners and entrepreneurs.

 


 

Power Networking Forums

Power Networking Forums bring together HBA members, local and national business organizations, corporations, elected government officials and Harlem residents.

 


 HBA Merchant Loan Fund

HBA Merchant Loan Fund provides up to $25,000 in capital for business technology purchases, interior leasehold renovations and store equipment.

 


 

Shop Harlem

Initially launched in 2000, the SHOP HARLEM marketing and promotion campaign was designed to create awareness of Harlem's retail businesses and dining establishments among current Harlem residents, new Harlemites and tourists through a co-operative marketing strategy.

 

 

125th Street Pilot Retail Incentive Program

The 125th Street Pilot Retail Incentive Program is a $750,000 Forgivable Loan Program, created by the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone (UMEZ) in response to certain externalities that may results from the rezoning of 125th Street. The program will target businesses that are being adversely affected by the proposed rezoning, and towards entrepreneurs seeking to take advantage of newly created retail opportunities within the defined boundaries of 125th street. The defined boundaries will extend along the areas of W. 125th Street between Fifth Avenue and Frederick Douglass Boulevard otherwise considered (“On the Street”), and the areas along Fifth Avenue, Lenox Avenue, Adam Clayton Powell Jr
